CBU Events Center – Riverside

Architecture

Communicating the civic heart of a Southern California college campus.

Situation

As one of the largest arenas that SVA Architects has designed, the architectural firm sought to publicize the ambitions design of California Baptist University’s (CBU’s) recently opened new Events Center, and communicate its placemaking within the larger campus. The $73 million project provides a space where students, faculty, and the surrounding community can come together to celebrate the dynamic university population.

Strategy

Leveraging social media, press releases, interviews with project partners, media VIP tours, and outreach to University influencers, BCI promoted the project from its Topping Out to its dedication and Grand Opening. In addition to communicating this extraordinary design to architectural and education-focused media, BCI also worked to maintain an excellent relationship with the University by providing design language and facilitating that relationship.

Results

News of the Topping Out appeared in the industry’s leading trade publication, School Construction News, and the Grand Opening appeared on 220 websites and online publications, with a total potential audience of almost 90 million people internationally.
