Jordan Downs – Los Angeles

Architecture

One of the most significant projects in Los Angeles, spurring economic development across the region.

Situation

One of the most significant projects in Los Angeles, the new Jordan Downs promises to spur economic development across the region and become a national model for the renewal of public housing. The $1 billion project will create hundreds of jobs, approximately 1,410 affordable and market-rate homes, numerous public amenities including a new community and recreation center, 160,000 square feet of retail space, nine (9) acres of green space, and new neighborhood programs and services to enrich the lives of current and future generations. Applying its expertise in urban renewal, affordable housing, and public-private partnerships, SVA Architects sought BCI’s assistance in showcasing its work on Phase 1 of Jordan Downs.

Strategy

With the first phase of the $1 billion project underway, BCI leveraged the large public investment and community anticipation to garner earned media coverage and showcase its client’s work. BCI united the project partners to offer media a collaborative press release, quoting multiple members of the development team. Using personalized outreach to regional and trade media, as well as nationally-distributed press releases via wire service, BCI was successful in garnering international media attention for SVA Architects.

Results

BCI generated hundreds of media clips with unique news stories in some of the region’s and industry’s top publications, including: The LA Times, Engineering News-Record, PRISM, Our Weekly Los Angeles, Los Angeles Wave, NBC, Construction Global, and OC Register, with a total potential audience of almost 90 million people.
