Setting the stage for a new destination hotel and an iconic new brand.

Situation

A partnership between BCI’s client, The Robert Green Company, and Montage Hotels & Resorts, the Pendry San Diego Hotel opened in 2016. Pendry San Diego was the first hotel to open under Montage’s new Pendry brand. BCI worked in collaboration with Pendry’s design team to execute the Pendry brand launch and groundbreaking of Pendry San Diego Hotel in October 2014 on behalf of Montage Hotels & Resorts and The Robert Green Company.

Strategy

At the outset, BCI met with Pendry and Robert Green executives in Orange County and New York to consult on the new Pendry brand identity and outreach strategy. With Pendry’s vision in mind, BCI helped execute every detail of the San Diego hotel’s groundbreaking—from the e-vite to the elaborate set built specifically for the event—to create an event that not only set the stage for a new destination hotel, but also an iconic new brand.

Results

Lauded by another developer as the “best groundbreaking ever,” the event earned dozens of local and national media mentions, including: International Business Times, GlobeSt.com, Hospitality Design, Hotel Business Review, Travel Daily News, Hotel Management, The San Diego Union-Tribune, The San Diego Business Journal, and the Times of San Diego, to name a few. The event and the successful media blitz launched Pendry as the brand to watch in luxury lifestyle hospitality.
