San Diego Padres’ Petco Park
General Contracting
Showcasing a client’s exceptional speed of construction for one of the most visual brands globally.

Situation
BCI’s client, BNBuilders, has established an outstanding relationship with the San Diego Padres organization, an MLB franchise. Although it seemed to appear overnight, the Padres’ Hall of Fame came together with much hard work by BNBuilders. Due to the nature of the Padres’ schedule around 2016 All-Star Game activities, BNBuilders had a window of May 4, 2016 to June 30, 2016—a mere 42 days—to complete the construction on the Hall of Fame in time for the planned July 1st, 2016 opening. Similarly, the Compass Premier Club at the Padres’ Petco Park was renovated from start-to-finish during the off-season.

Strategy
Communicating globally about the enhancements of a treasured MLB asset had to include careful consideration of all stakeholders. While BNBuilders has an excellent relationship with the development staff at the San Diego Padres organization, BCI also nurtured a trusting partnership with Padres executives and other project partners for public outreach. After skillfully crafting media statements about BNBuilders’ extraordinary off-season construction sprints for the Padres, BCI leveraged its relationship with leadership to refine and approve press releases for public distribution, including quotes from Padres executives and the project architect. BCI included Padres history and stats about the team to create well-rounded feature stories.

Results
BCI’s efforts to unite the key development partners with one public outreach message were highly successful. Information about the renovations—prominently featuring BNBuilders’ swift work, design language, and Padres history—were picked up by hundreds of local and national publications. The potential audience for the two press releases is estimated at almost 90 million people each.
